Model 533/16

During WWII Hubert Nerwin thought about a new 35mm folder. The results of his thoughts were developed after the war to Zeiss Ikon's first completely new postwar product, made since 1948 as Ikonta 522/24. As Zeiss was unable to produce sufficient Tessar lenses (due to war damage to their production facilities), this is one of the few Zeiss models ever to feature a non-Zeiss (Schneider Xenar. This exceptionally beautiful and good Super Ikonta with serial number X 22354 dates back to 1955. It is the last model of this legendary Super Ikonta in post-war version with a Zeiss Opton-Tessar 80 mm/f2, 8 with serial number 1113265 in Synchro Compur shutter. This camera has the characteristic turning wedge rangefinder.

Zeiss has refused to identify the exact number produced. The most popular estimate circulating on the Internet is about 100 with some as high as 300 which are based upon the subtraction of lens serial numbers. Year of construction. Based on the serial number of the Tessar 7cm, f3.5, it appears the lens dates from 1935. The camera serial number is: 40075. The serial numbers don't quite line up on the chart for Carl Zeiss Jena lenses for 1938, but I think that may be a bit of a typo. However going by the chart and making an assumption on my part, I would say it looks like the date of manufacture might be approximately 1938 +/- a year or two. The camera maybe older than I thought. No 258646) was not the shutter serial (which was engraved on the side) or model number, but a German patent number. Super Ikonta C (530/2) The Super Ikonta range was introduced in the early 1930s in several models for different film frame sizes, including the Super Ikonta A, B and C for 4.5x6, 6x6 and 6x9cm, respectively.
